What The Bible Says About Itself.

How does God view His own Word, the Bible? What does He say?  God’s Answer:  God’s Word is the only thing from this earth that we can “pack up” and take with us into heaven.  Scripture Verses:  Matthew 24:35 ~ "Heaven and earth will disappear, but MY WORDS WILL NEVER DISAPPEAR."   Isaiah 40:8;  Isaiah 55:11; Psalm 119:89; Matthew 5:18;  1 Peter 1:23, 25.

The following thirty texts show us God’s view about His “Written Word” --- His Eternal Word --- the Holy Scriptures, …the Bible.

1. JESUS CHRIST, is the "Living Word."                                            Question:  What does the “Written Word” --- the Bible, Holy Scriptures --- teach us about Jesus Christ, the “Living Word”?  The Gospel’s First Reference to Jesus Christ, the “Living Word.”         John 1:1,2, & 14 ~ “….“The Word became human and made His home among us.  He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.  And we have seen His glory, the glory of the Father’s One and only Son.”   NLT Text (Cf. Revelation 19:3)

2. Christ, the “Living Word,”Text quoted the “Written Word” (Scripture) to Satan.  Matthew 4:3,4; Mark 1:12-13; (Cf. Genesis 3:6); Luke 4:1-13; 1 John 2:16.

3. Christ, the “Living Word,”Text Preached and Taught the “Written Word.” Luke 4:16-21 (Cf. Isaiah 61:1,2); Mark 2:2;  Luke 4:22 & 32;  Luke 11:28; John 6:68; John 8:30;  John 14:24.

4. Christ the “Living Word” And “Master Teacher” modeled His use of the “Written Word” in the Sermon on the Mount..       Matthew 5:17-19; 17:5; Luke 10:25-37;  John 8:46; Romans 15:8; (Cf. ExodusText 19:5)  1 Peter 2:21-23; Galatians 4:4.

5. Christ, the “Living Word’s” Answered the Religious Leaders by quoting the “Written Word.”  John 5:33-39 NLT Text ~“…The Scriptures point to Me!” John 8:31,32.

6. Christ, the “Living Word” wants to teach us the “Written Word. 
NLT Text In Matthew 11:29 ~ “Let Me teach you,….”Text In Christ’s last prayer with His disciples before the crucifixion He prayed that His Father would: “Make them (His disciples) holy by Your truth; TEACH THEM YOUR WORD, which is truth.”Text (John 17:17)

7. Christ, the “Living Word’s” made a significant reference to the Holy Spirit’s special responsibility and role with the “Written Word.”   John 14:26;   (See also John 15:26,27)

8. Christ, the "Living Word" promised that the "Good News" of His Salvation would encircle the whole earth by the end.   Matthew 24:14 ~  Jesus promised that His Gospel would be "preached throughout the whole world so that all nations will hear it and then, finally the end will come."

9.  Christ, the “Living Word’s” last references to the “Written Word.”  Christ’s last references to the Scriptures came during the resurrection appearances.
   Luke 24:26-27, & 32; 27Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself….”  Matthew 28:18-20; (Cf. Luke 6:12-16 &  1 Corinthians 15:6);   Luke 24:44-48; Acts 1:1-3)

10.  Christ's Apostles ~ How did the Apostles view God’s Word, The Bible?  Acts 6:4 ~ “We apostles can spend our time in Prayer and Teaching the Word of God.”   (See Acts 8:30-35);  Ephesus 4:11-16; 2 Timothy 1:13, 14; 2 Timothy 2:2 & 15.   2 Timothy 3:14-17;  2 Timothy 4:2; Hebrews 4:12; James 1:22, 23;  John 8:32;  Revelation 22:18,19.)
